An NYPD report Tuesday revealed that a man posing as a Con Edison worker assaulted a woman late last month.
According to the report, a man posing as a company employee pushed his way into the 45-year-old victim's apartment, grabbed her by the throat and dragged her into her bedroom on Feb. 23.
The report says that the suspect fled after the victim stabbed him with a knife.
Con Ed issued a warning to customers that legitimate workers carry an identification card with a picture, their name and the company logo.
On Monday, two men allegedly posing as Con Ed workers burst into a woman's Magenta Street home when she answered the door, sexually assaulted her and stole money.
The utility company says anyone who has doubts about a person's legitimacy should call 1-800-75-CON-ED before opening the door.
