Police say a man was fatally struck by a car early Tuesday morning on the Washington Bridge.

According to the NYPD, a man in his 50s was walking across the bridge when he was hit by a 2020 black Nissan SUV. He was taken to SBH Health System where he died from his injuries.

Officers say a 25-year-old man was behind the wheel of the car that struck the victim. The driver remained at the scene.

Police say they are still investigating what exactly caused the crash.
