NYPD: Man on moped dies after collision in East Tremont

9h agoA 35-year-old man died after colliding with a car that fled the scene in East Tremont on Friday night, the NYPD says.
The victim was identified as William Cruz. Further investigation found that Cruz was traveling down Park Avenue on a gas-powered moped when he struck the driver side of a black sedan on East 183rd Street. Cruz was sill conscious and alert when first responders arrived, and he was taken to SBH Health System where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the sedan did not remain on scene and was last seen making a right turn on Washington Avenue.
No arrests have been made.
The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the fatal incident.
