NYPD: Man turns himself in for shooting grandmother in the Bronx

The shooting took place on Thursday just after 12 p.m., when police responded to a 911 call of two people shot outside of 512 East 138th St.

A 21-year-old man was arrested in the fatal shooting of a 71-year-old woman last week in Mott Haven, according to the NYPD.   MORE: Neighbors mourn loss of 71-year-old Mott Haven shooting victim
The shooting took place on Thursday just after 12 p.m., when police responded to a 911 call of two people shot outside of 512 East 138th St.
Enriqueta Rivera was fatally shot in the back, and a 34-year-old woman was struck in the arm and is expected to be OK.  
Police sources say that Joshua Evans turned himself in to the 40th Precinct on Monday. They say that Evans' place of residence was two blocks away from the scene of the shooting, and that he was hiding in a relative's home in Mount Vernon prior to turning himself in.
Evans has a prior arrest history including a robbery arrest in 2019.
Evans is currently facing charges that include murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a loaded firearm, among others.
