Shots rang out in Soundview Wednesday night leaving a 62-year-old woman injured and the suspect on the loose, police say.
The NYPD says the woman was unintentionally shot in the arm around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Boynton and Watson avenues.
This is just the latest instance of gun violence at the intersection. Just two months ago, a 22-year-old man was shot and killed at this same spot.
Multiple residents spoke with News 12 about the danger they face in the neighborhood all too often.
“You step into society and face your fears. Just stay to yourself, keep your focus, and just move on and take care of your daily responsibilities," says one neighbor.
Police say the victim was taken to SBH Health System and is expected to make a full recovery.
The only details police have on the alleged shooter is he was wearing a gray hoodie and a black ski mask when he escaped the scene in a Nissan Sedan.
