A woman found inside a Wakefield building with stab wounds was pronounced dead on Saturday, according to police.

Authorities say they discovered the 40-year-old victim, identified as Tamara Rowe, with wounds to her chest and right arm at 667 East 232 St. She was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police sources say the death stemmed from a domestic dispute. They say a sibling to one of the people involved in the fight called the police.

Neighbors say Rowe lived in the building with her boyfriend and daughter. Cheryl Thompson, who lives down the hall, saw blood in the elevator last night. She couldn't believe what she heard about her neighbors.

She says she would often see the couple walking together as a family with their daughter.

The building’s superintendent told News 12 off camera that surveillance footage from inside the building shows Rowe's boyfriend running out of the apartment down the stairs last night around the time police say the stabbing happened.

No arrests have been made as of Sunday evening. Police have not yet named any suspects.
