As friends and loved ones gathered to say good-bye to NYPD Officer Brian Mulkeen, video was released of the shooting incident at Edenwald Houses that he had been investigating.
Officer Mulkeen died early Sunday morning by friendly fire from another officer while he was patrolling the Edenwald Houses with his partners. The officers were investigating a shooting that happened on Sept. 26, and police are looking to identify the men in the released video.

During Sunday’s incident, Mulkeen approached armed suspect 27-year-old Antonio Williams for questioning, police say the suspect tried to flee. The confrontation escalated when Mulkeen attempted to stop Williams for reaching for his gun. Investigators say Mulkeen fired five shots, and his partners fired 10 shots. Two of his partners’ shots struck and killed Mulkeen. Williams was also killed.
The NYPD has increased the police presence around Edenwald Houses.
Meanwhile, officers in the Bronx and around New York City paid their final respects to Mulkeen Friday. He is the second officer to be killed from friendly fire this year.
