NYPD officers help Fordham woman give birth in her apartment
A 23-year-old mother from Fordham thanked NYPD members Wednesday after three officers helped bring her daughter into the world.
Plans for Oumy Bajaha's delivery took a turn when heavy traffic held up her husband and an ambulance Monday night.
Three officers from the 46th Precinct were next in line to help. They arrived while Bajaha was already in labor, and used the help of medical technicians on the phone to assist.
Minutes later, Zainab was born.
But an unconventional entrance to the world is something Bajaha is used to -- she was born in an apartment as well.
