The NYPD has released new video following an officer-involved shooting last month.
The video shows the moments an 18-year-old suspect pushed an NYPD officer to the ground and ran out of an apartment. Officers are seen on video telling the suspect to stop running, and one shoots him shortly after.
In October, the NYPD reported that the incident began around 9:15 p.m. when a father called 911, saying his own son had robbed his family at gunpoint inside their home on Van Nest Avenue.
Investigators say officers and the father tracked the suspect to an apartment building on East Gun Hill Road.
At the time, police said they heard three gunshots from inside the apartment.
Police say that during a struggle with the suspect, one sergeant fell and hit his head, and another officer fired his weapon, hitting thesuspect.
A loaded gun was recovered inside a bag the suspect was carrying, according to police. Both the officer and the suspect were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi.
The NYPD says its Force Investigation Division is investigating. The case will be presented to the First Deputy Commissioners' Use of Force Review Board to determine if the use of force applied in the case was justified and within department guidelines.
