Two recent attacks on members of the Asian community were captured on video for the world to see and now residents are calling for more protection. 

The NYPD released a video of an attack on an elderly Asian woman in front of a New York City hotel Monday morning.

The incident happened around 11:40 a.m. in front of 360 W. 43rd St.

The video shows the front entrance of a hotel in which the 65-year-old woman is seen walking outside before a person kicks her to the ground. The suspect continuously kicks her in the head as she lays on the sidewalk.

Police say the attacker made anti-Asian statements during the assault. The suspect took off after that attack.

Detectives say the woman was rushed to the hospital with a serious physical injury. The NYPD Hate Crimes task force is investigating the incident.

Representatives for the hotel say the workers caught on camera who appeared not to come to the woman's aid have now been suspended. They issued a statement which says, "The Brodsky Organization condemns all forms of discrimination, racism, xenophobia and violence against the Asian American community. The staff who witnessed the attack have been suspended pending an investigation. The Brodsky Organization is also working to identify a third-party delivery vendor present during the incident so that appropriate action can be taken."

On Tuesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio said the attacks against the Asian community have to stop.

"Look, I don't care who you are, I don't care what you do. You've got to help your fellow New Yorker. And if you see someone being attacked, do whatever you can," de Blasio pleaded.

Mayoral candidate Andrew Yang says the city needs to do better in protecting Asian Americans. 

 “I call again on the mayor to fully fund the Asian hate crimes task force which still is not a fully funded unit as far as we all can tell these incidents are becoming all too commonplace. They are heartbreaking, there's no place for this in New York City," he said.

In response to the recent attacks, the Coalition of Asian Americans for Civil Rights is organizing a rally on Sunday with a march across the Brooklyn Bridge.
