The race for the congressional seat in District 15 is comprised of a diverse group of candidates, including an NYPD sergeant who works in Queens and lives in the Bronx.
David Franks is part of a 12-candidate field seeking the Democratic nomination in June.
The winner of the primary will likely face the lone Republican in the field, Patrick Delices, in November.
Franks said that while he lives in Queens, he spends the majority of his time in the Bronx.
"I do work there in Queens but I'm basically in The Bronx all the time...there's some tough neighborhoods that need some working on, like I mentioned, the violence, gang violence, guns, grafitti, it needs to be cleaned up," said Franks.
He also wants to see better safety on the streets and he wants to see the MTA and NYCA worked on.
