NYPD stats: Shootings in the Bronx reach high numbers

To date, the Bronx has seen a total of 212 shootings, that's six more shootings than this time last year.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has applauded a 29% decrease in shootings in parts of the state of New York thanks to her $350 million investment to reduce gun violence. However, shooting incidents in the Bronx continue to climb.
To date, the Bronx has seen a total of 212 shootings, that's six more shootings than this time last year.
According to NYPD stats the 40th Precinct shows the most shootings to date in the borough, including areas like Port Morris, Mott Haven, and Melrose. This year alone there has been a 50% increase with a total of 27 shootings, last year the total was 18.
There's been a 60% increase in shootings in the areas the 52nd Precinct covers. those neighborhoods include Norwood, Kingsbridge, Bedford Park Fordham, and University Heights.
There has been a total of 16 shootings in these areas this year, six more than last year.
