Police officers and families with young children gathered Thursday for the third annual Blue Grass Project junior golf clinic in Soundview.
Organizers say they transform Soundview Park into a driving range for the event each year.
Minister Kwame Thompson partnered with pro golfer William Larkin to create the free event that lets police from the 43rd Precinct teach children the techniques of golfing.
"I was born and raised here in the Soundview projects and I've never seen golf in the projects before," Thompson says.
Organizers say the event also allows local officers to become friendly faces to the children they protect and serve.
