Officials say 13 people, including six children, escaped a fire at a home in North Amityville early this morning.

The fire broke out at a home on Corral Drive around 1:15 a.m.

A source tells News 12 the fire appeared to have started due to a faulty wire from an appliance in the basement.

The residents of the home say they are thankful they escaped unharmed.

All the residents of the home are currently staying in a hotel.
