At least 20 people were displaced and eight were injured in a two-alarm fire in Brooklyn, officials say.

Crews were called to East 95th Street and Clarkson Avenue around 5 a.m. at a two-story building in East Flatbush.

The NYPD says two of those injured are in serious condition, and the FDNY tells News 12 that one firefighter was injured.

News 12 is told at least two of the victims jumped out of the window to escape, including a father with his children.

That father told News 12 off-camera that all his children are in the hospital being treated for burns and bruises. He says he's hearing and hoping they make a full recovery.

There is a deli on the first floor of the building, and News 12 is told the family who owns the store lives in the building.

All of the victims were taken to the hospital.

News 12 spoke to one neighbor who says she saw the flames coming out the window.

“A family member was laying on the sidewalk, another family member was crying,” they say. “We come to this shop to buy stuff, we know them. It’s a close-knitted neighborhood, we know everyone, so their pain is our pain.”

Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Moro says the fire spread fast likely because of a door left open where the flames started.

“So the fire extended to the hallway, the stairwell and second floor,” Moro says.

Family members of those injured say there is a lot of confusion, and they are still trying to get in touch with their loved ones at the hospital.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
