Wednesday marked the one-year anniversary of the groundbreaking of Bronx Point, which will be home to New York's first Hip Hop museum and more.
Dozens of elected officials gathered in the South Bronx on Wednesday to celebrate the first anniversary of the groundbreaking. This new infrastructure will not only bring New York its first Hip Hop museum, but will also serve as a permanent affordable housing community.
"Having an infrastructure that's going to educate people on hip hop and also address the housing crisis is something big for our community," said Council member Kevin Reilly.
The new community at Bronx Point will have educational facilities, retail spaces, housing units, and open spaces looking over the Harlem River. The infrastructure is set to add approximately 540 new permanent rent- and income-controlled housing units.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson announced that $2 million has been allocated to this project.
