A man was fatally shot on East Tremont Avenue late Friday night, officials say.

Police responded to a report of a man assaulted on the street around 10:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found 24-year-old Joshua Lopez with a gunshot wound to his torso.

Lopez was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he later died. 

Police say the incident may have been a drive-by shooting, but there is no description of the vehicle at this time.
