An overnight fire destroyed three homes in Newark, forcing dozens of people out of their homes and sending several firefighters to the hospital.
City officials say the fire started around midnight at 11 Seymour Ave. at an abandoned home. It then spread to adjacent properties at 13 Seymour Ave. and 9 Seymour Ave.
"Everything is gone. I don't have anything now,” said Kadiatou Cisse, who lived in 9 Seymour Ave.
Officials say everyone who was inside the homes during the fire made it out safely, but 34 people from seven families were forced out.
The Red Cross is helping those in need.
Four firefighters were also sent to University Hospital when part of one of the buildings collapsed. They are in stable condition.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
