At least six businesses were engulfed in flames and destroyed in a massive fire on Jerome Avenue in University Heights, sources say.
The FDNY says there were no injuries reported in the five-alarm fire.
It took firefighters hours to put out the flames. Another issue at the scene is that a car was blocking a fire hydrant.
Some business owners who spoke with News 12 say they have been in the area for years and that it is a heartbreaking scene for them.
During the height of the fire, the MTA said four trains would bypass Burnside Avenue in both directions while the FDNY investigated.
