As New Yorkers young and old are looking for ways to beat the heat, the Jewish Association Serving the Aging's older adult centers are extending their hours for this weekend.
JASA has six locations in Brooklyn and seven in the Bronx, where seniors can hang out and enjoy cool air conditioning.
"We have games, activities, we have water, we provide snacks," said Anna Bella, program director for the JASA older adult center located in Brighton Beach.
These centers have plenty to offer beyond the cool air and hydration to beat the summer heat.
"A lot of conversations, discussion, very nice staff," said Zovaya Khovskaya, who volunteers in the kitchen at the Brighton Beach location.
Anyone over 60 years old can come to the JASA cooling centers, which are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during weekends.
