One Brooklyn Health is trying to increase vaccinations by expanding shot access in some of its smaller locations.
Brookdale Family Care Center in East New York is offering vaccinations on top of other medical services every Monday.
Staffers there say they understand that there has been some hesitancy and they are trying to address concerns with patients when they arrive.
On top of the hospital site, some of the health care organization's smaller health centers are offering shots to provide more flexibility for residents.
The overall vaccination rate for New York City is about 60%, while Canarsie, East New York and Brownsville are at 44%.
As the delta variant circulates, Dr. Nanette Thomas, the director of Ambulatory Care at Brookdale Hospital, says these communities are being hit the hardest because of unvaccinated residents.
As an incentive, they have been offering food provided by the Food Bank of New York City food to get more people through the door.
