Just days after the City Council passed a bill making the program permanent, Open Streets launched for 2021 in Park Slope.
The program allows outdoor dining on 5th Avenue. People were seen Saturday enjoying the open space, live music and visiting the many businesses.
Park Slope's 5th Avenue Business Improvement District executive director Mark Caserta says the program has helped boost sales by 30% for the shops and restaurants. They resumed the program in March after it was paused in December.
Much of 5th Avenue will be closed to traffic every Saturday, also every Sunday beginning in July.
