Hundreds of people around the city are still dealing with power outages related to this week's hot weather.
Con Edison crews have been around the city most of the day working to restore power. While the utility's website says all Bronx residents can expect to have the lights back on today, those in Brooklyn without power are in this for the long haul. The estimated restoration time isn't until 3 a.m. Friday.
In the Wakefield section of the Bronx, residents said the power went out around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
"I came outside, because it was too stuffy. I had to because of my health issues. I couldn't be closed in like that so, a lot of people basically were sitting outside all night last night," said Krista Downes, of Wakefield.
In the southern part of Co-op City, residents say they lost it even earlier - some in the middle of the day yesterday and others just after dinner.
There are a lot of senior citizens in the area and for them, the night was even rougher.
"My auntie, she's an older lady. She's a senior ,and she took it pretty hard. It was really nasty. She was very uncomfortable. I'm happy that these people are coming out and fixing it now, but it was very unfortunate for that to happen to her," said Edward Rivera.
Con Edison asked all New Yorkers, especially in northern and southeast Brooklyn, to conserve power where they can to try to avoid any more outages.
