Many parents in the Bronx are headed to Flynn O’Hara for school uniforms,
but some say the line is unbearable.
The store opened its doors at 9:30 a.m., and similar to other days – the line
goes out the door and down the block toward Seabury Avenue.
News 12’s Faith Graham estimated more than 100 shoppers on line, with some
even setting up beach chairs for comfort.
Flynn O’Hara issued a statement apologizing for the delay, saying in part,
"These delays are due in large part to two factors: a significant spike in
demand for school uniforms as many families return to the classroom for the
first time in more than a year, and the national labor shortage."
News
12 spoke with a store representative who offered these suggestions to beat the
rush:
- Know what you need before coming in the store to save time
- Shop sooner rather than later
Employees say they serve between 500 to 600 families per day, with the number doubling around Labor Day.
Yasmine
McQueen, a shopper, tells News 12 the long lines aren’t new.
“It's always like this every
year. You know, [not] last year because of corona, but the year before it was
like this too,” says McQueen.
