Parents told News 12 that their children are slipping and falling over the deteriorating rubber mats at the Fort Independence Playground in Kingsbridge.
A petition online demands the problem get fixed. It has more than 200 signatures.
The mats are meant to keep kids safe from falls, but parents say they are folding up and creating a tripping hazard.
"The safety of children should be a priority for everyone," said resident Veronika Dailey.
News 12 reached out to the city's Parks Department and Council Member Eric Dinowitz to see if they have any plans to tackle the issue.
