A player who tested positive for COVID-19 has withdrawn from the U.S. Open tournament, according to the U.S. Tennis Association.

In a statement, the USTA said the player is asymptomatic but had a confirmed positive test result.

The player is isolating for at least 10 days and contact tracing is underway to determine if anyone with whom the player had contact must quarantine.

A person familiar with the situation who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity said that French tennis player Benoit Paire is the player who tested positive.

The 31-year-old Paire was seeded 17th and was supposed to face Kamil Majchrzak of Poland in the first round on Tuesday.

The Grand Slam tournament begins Monday, with no spectators allowed as part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
