A New Rochelle man was found fatally shot on a city street Wednesday evening.
Police say they were called to the intersection of Horton Avenue and Colonel Lee Archer Boulevard at the Heritage Homes complex just before 6 p.m. with reports of shots fired.
When investigators arrived, they found a man on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders administered first aid and the victim was taken to a local hospital.
The man, whose name has not yet been released, later died from his injuries.
At this point, police are only saying the victim is a 29-year-old New Rochelle resident. People in the neighborhood identify the victim as James Caldwell, better known as rapper Boogie.  Candles and blood now mark the spot where the young father’s life was taken and many people in this neighborhood are heartbroken today.  "I don't know why it happened, but it happened and keeps on happening and somebody needs to stop it," says Mary Ann Jordan, of New Rochelle.
Detectives had the area cordoned off for hours as they canvassed the neighborhood, dropping evidence markers, taking pictures, and using a drone to survey the area.
There is no word yet if there are any suspects or if anyone was arrested.
