The parents of a toddler and the mother of another have been charged after their children had to be given Narcan for ingesting drugs and almost dying, police say.
Authorities were dispatched to 2069 Honeywell Ave. Tuesday morning for a call about an 18-month-old girl who was unconscious.
She was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they found drugs in her system and quickly gave her Narcan. Although she's stable, sources say her parents were both charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.
A 2-year-old was also treated with Narcan at St. Barnabas Hospital after her mother took her there as a walk-in just before 2 p.m. Police were quickly called and took the child's mother, 37-year-old Cassidy Reid, into custody.
Police say she's being charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a controlled substance and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.
It's unclear what kind of drugs the children ingested.
