Police: Substitute teacher accused of raping 14-year-old

Police say a Department of Education employee was arrested on two counts of rape and sexual misconduct.
Authorities say the employee is 26-year-old Sergio Garcia.
The Department of Education says Garcia was hired as a substitute teacher in September 2020.
Police sources say the victim is a family member who was around 14 years old when the alleged rape occurred.
The Department of Education says in a statement, "These are extremely disturbing allegations of conduct from several years prior to this substitute’s employment, and we took immediate action as soon as they were reported. He is not eligible to work in our schools pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.”
