An early morning crash in the Bronx left two people dead Thursday.
News 12 is told officers arrived at the scene on East Gun Hill Road around 2 a.m.
Video from CitizenApp captured what is believed to be the vehicle on fire. News 12 is told a man behind the wheel was speeding on Bronx River Parkway going northbound.
As he was exiting on East Gun Hill Road, police say he lost control of his Dodge sedan. As he exited the ramp, he struck a pedestrian and then slammed into a concrete pillar right off the exit. That is when officials say his car caught on fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Right now, authorities have a section of the road blocked off, as they work to remove the body. For now, vehicles only have access to Bronx River Parkway South heading towards Soundview.
News 12 is told the pedestrian was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No word yet on the identity of the driver.
