Police are looking for two people who knocked on a Sheepshead Bay home's front door on Halloween pretending to be trick-or-treating before pulling a gun on the homeowner.
The attempted robbery on Sunday happened around 10:39 p.m. in the vicinity of Lake and Nostrand avenues, when a man and woman knocked on the 37-year-old victim's door while saying "trick-or-treat," police say.
The victim opened the door and gave the two people candy when the man pulled out a gun and forced his way into the home.
In video released by police, the woman can be seen then turning around and walking down the front door stairs and leaving the property, fleeing eastbound toward Nostrand Avenue.
As the victim struggled to keep the man out of his home, a second man ran up the front stairs and tried to push his way past the homeowner, police say. The two suspects then began to repeatedly punch the victim in the face.
After some time, the homeowner finally managed to push both men out of his home and lock the door, causing them to run off toward Nostrand Avenue.
Anyone with any information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
