Police seek driver who fatally struck 70-year-old woman in Teaneck

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, the victim, 70-year-old Bernardita Garcia, passed away after she was found lying in the roadway on Cedar Lane near the Lincoln Place intersection.

Police in Bergen County are looking for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run in Teaneck.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, the victim, 70-year-old Bernardita Garcia, passed away after she was found lying in the roadway on Cedar Lane near the Lincoln Place intersection.
Some say they saw someone lying in the street as other pedestrians rushed over to help. Teaneck police responded around 7 p.m. on Thursday after several 911 calls.
Officers determined Garcia had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene. They say she was taken to Holy Name Hospital where she later died.
The prosecutor's office didn't share a description of the vehicle or the nature of the incident.
They say the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information to contact police.
