A Bronx man was recovering Thursday after his employer says he was beaten by two men with an iron bar in Woodlawn.
Police say the incident happened outside of the Tombstone Saloon on East 233rd Street around 6:30 a.m.
Co-workers say Dennis, the victim, was just trying to get some ice and beer when two men smacked him over the head with an iron bar. According to a bartender, the suspects were trying to get the keys to the bar from Dennis and attacked him when he refused.
Police say the suspects were wearing masks and fled in a car.
Officials say the hit caused the victim to get more than 20 staples to his head.
People who know Dennis say he is recovering and is no longer in the hospital.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
