The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has put out a contingency plan in the event of a New Jersey Transit rail strike that could go into effect on May 16.

The agency says that PATH service will operate on a normal schedule on weekdays, but they will add service when necessary to minimize crowds. Additional PATH staff will be available to help passengers navigate.

For service to Newark Liberty Airport, select Amtrak trains will continue to operate. This means one would need to purchase an Amtrak ticket to get on board.

Beginning on May 16, the Port Authority will also operate free shuttle buses between Newark-Penn Station and Airtrain Newark’s P-4 Station. These buses will run every 20 minutes.
