A Somers Point man has been charged with multiple child sexual assault and child exploitation offenses involving several alleged victims over more than a decade, authorities said.
Shaun M. Stebbins, 43, was arrested March 29 and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a victim under age 13, permitting a child to engage in pornography, photographing a child in a sex act, endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct, showing obscene material to a minor and criminal sexual contact, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities said the charges stem from reported incidents involving multiple victims between 2014 and 2025.
An investigation found that Stebbins allegedly committed multiple sexual acts against multiple victims under age 13 for more than a decade.
He is also accused of creating and possessing child sexual abuse material. Stebbins was arrested by Somers Point police and jailed pending a detention hearing, authorities said.
Prosecutors said Stebbins is employed as a pre-kindergarten teacher’s aide at Woodbine Elementary School.
In a note to parents, Woodbine School Superintendent Adrienne Breitinger said, "Upon being informed of the arrest, the district immediately requested a replacement aide. The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority."
Breitinger also noted that "all aides in the district are employees of a contracted vendor, ESS."
News 12 reached out to ESS requesting comment.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor said there may be additional victims, particularly given the defendant’s access to children through his job.
