Prospect Park Zoo was hit hard when the remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia caused flooding across the five boroughs in September.
The zoo is still picking up the pieces. Representatives from the zoo say their basements were flooded with up to 25 feet of water. Those basements held vital equipment to keep many of the park's exhibits and amenities up and running.
Zoo staff were able to keep taking care of the animals during the floods, but they say that the flooding cost the zoo millions of dollars.
Zoo officials say they aren't sure when they'll be able to reopen, but that they're making good progress on restoring the current damages.
