Rain is on its way to New York City, just a couple of days after Mayor Eric Adams announced a drought warning in the area.
City officials say the dry conditions are part of the cause of over 300 brushfires across the city.
They are also now warning New Yorkers to be "cautiously optimistic."
“That will not alleviate the conditions that have built up over the last 10 weeks, but we will take any rain for sure," said NYCEM First Deputy Commissioner Christina Farrell.
NYCEM has activated the flash flood emergency plan, meaning the DEP and sister agencies will continue to sweep city streets without the use of water.
Leaves along sidewalks and city streets could be the cause of slick roads on Thursday morning.
City officials now encourage all New Yorkers to exercise caution while traveling in low-lying areas, especially if there is flooding.
