The weather in New Jersey is quiet and sunny. Temperatures on Tuesday warmed to the low 80s. It was the eighth straight day that Newark Liberty International Airport recorded highs in the 80s.
September is averaging about 2 ½ degrees above the norm. The rainfall was about 2 inches below what we should normally collect. Obviously, drought concerns will continue to grow until we can get some consistent precipitation our way.
Two hurricanes in the Atlantic have produced some serious swells. Those swells will continue to travel towards New Jersey beaches, causing dangerous rip currents and large waves in the surf zone that will carry a lot of sand away from the shoreline. Please be more cautious than ever around the ocean.
Tonight is clear and chilly. Lows dip to the upper 40s and low to mid-50s.
Wednesday is sunny and autumn-like. Daily highs don't get to 70 degrees. The temperature profile is more like something we would expect for the middle of the month.
Temperatures drop quickly on Wednesday night. Quite possibly the coldest morning start since the end of May. Lows around 48 degrees.
The weather remains sunny and chilly for Thursday, but we start to see the mercury rising for the weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday look phenomenal. Sunny and low 80s.
