Chef Lorna Maseko hosted the first installation of The Red Hook Art Project's Culinary Arts Chef's Series on Sunday.
The series in partnership with local restaurant Hyssop, which engages renowned chefs from around the globe to teach community members how to make one of their favorite dishes.
Maseko taught students how to make the classic South African dish, Chakalaka. Attendees of the event asked Maseko questions about her life in South Africa, and her work as a chef along with questions about food.
The Red Hook Art Project is a nonprofit that helps young people in the community access art education and build portfolios.
This program is offered to RHAP families at no cost and is open to the public for $100.
