People living at one of the oldest and largest public housing developments in the city are about to get an upgrade.
NYCHA is starting to plan $445 million worth of renovations for apartments at Edenwald Houses in Eastchester. Not only will the apartments see updates, but there will also be new laundry facilities, programs for seniors and more.
NYCHA says it's the almost 5,000 people living in the complex that helped make the decisions about what to change in the almost 70-year-old building.
This is a part of the NYCHA program that's used public-private partnerships to already convert over 9,500 public housing units including those next door at Baychester Houses. NYCHA expects construction to start in 2023.
