Summer is a popular time for the rental market, and a 2024 StreetEasy report shows Mott Haven as an up-and-coming neighborhood.
The report says Mott Haven has the highest year-over-year increase in rentals on the market. The report also mentions that prices are increasing, but locals who spoke with News 12 say Bronx residents can’t keep up with prices.
“All the people that live here for so many years are being bought out,” says Mott Haven resident Angel Cordova.
News 12 also spoke with a realtor in the area who says the value is greater for an apartment in Mott Haven than in Manhattan.
“The median price for a studio apartment in Manhattan is $3600, and this building right behind me for the same price, you can get a three-bedroom, two-bathroom, luxury duplex penthouse,” says Jason Christie, a real estate broker with Compass.
