According to reports, two high ranking NYPD officers allegedly submitted fake vaccine cards, leading to an investigation of several others within the department.
A source names the officers in question as Lt. Joseph Marsella and Capt. Desmond Morales.
The NYPD has confirmed internal affairs launched an investigation into the two officers who have now been stripped of their badge and gun.
DCPI issued a response to the investigation saying:
"It is not just about the individual NYPD employee’s health, but also the health of their coworkers and others around them. We worked out a process. It included how to apply for an exemption and a two-level appeals process. If the investigation finds that these two officers substituted false documentation to the department, it is a serious breach of integrity and the law. The two officers have been placed on modified assignment, relieved of their guns and shields, and assigned to desk duty. An investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau is continuing."
No other information has been released at this time.
