After two major snowstorms and a deep freeze, potholes are abundant across New York City.

In Tremont, crews with the city’s Department of Transportation were hard at work filling some of the damage just off the Cross Bronx Expressway. Workers poured asphalt into several large potholes that drivers in the area say they have been trying to avoid.

More than 80 DOT crews were deployed across city streets and highways Saturday. Officials say they expect to repair thousands of potholes in a single day.

The effort is part of the city’s annual road resurfacing season, which begins this month and includes full curb-to-curb repaving projects.
