The Clifford Place step street, which was designed to be a quick connection from Walton Avenue to the Grand Concourse, is falling apart, according to residents.
The steps appear uneven and cracked and require walkers to skip several at a time in some places.
Richard Gary, a Mount Hope resident and architect, says the steps are both dangerous and an eyesore.
Residents also say they see trash and dead rodents piling up.
But a fix may soon arrive -- News 12 encountered workers at the scene who said they were hired by the city to fix the step street in the coming months. The construction is expected to take 15 months.
