City residents are headed out to Coney Island for the unofficial last weekend of the summer.

Safety guidelines remain in place at beaches and boardwalks across the city to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

Residents are urged to practice social distancing and wear a face covering while out in public.

A few residents have already been seen getting in an early run at Coney Island's boardwalk and jumping in the ocean for a swim.

Mayor Bill de Blasio is reminding residents to stay safe, tweeting in part: "Go enjoy our pools and beaches before they close this coming Monday, but keep doing what works. Practice social distancing and wear a face covering."
