A gaping sinkhole has formed on Clinton Avenue.
Residents tell News 12 that the hole, which is near a playground and school, seems to be getting bigger and could have been caused by a broken pipe under the street.
“I usually walk through here to take a shortcut from work. I called 311 and reported it and said there is a small hole in the street,” Henry Ramos said.
“It looks like it’s just getting bigger, and it looks like it’s leaking water,” Ramos said.
The Department of Environmental Protection is assessing the sinkhole and excavating the roadway to locate the source of the water leak.
