Residents near a scenic waterfront park in Castle Hill say they are still waiting for the safety improvement promised after a vicious attack at the park in 2015.

Two years ago, local officials promised to make Pugsley Creek Park safer after an assault that left a young man dead.

State Sen. Jeffrey Klein promised $100,000 in funding for 12 security cameras and seven call boxes along the trails.

A spokesperson from the New York City Parks Department said in a statement, “We are working with the senator's office, in coordination with NYPD and the Mayor's Office of Technology & Innovation, to ensure the proposed allocation is used in the most effective way possible towards security measures at Pugsley Creek Park and other neighborhood parks.”

The Parks Department says in the meantime patrol units tour Pugsley Creek Park several times a day to ensure safety.
