A desperate search is underway for a bone marrow donor for retired New York City firefighter Brian Kevan.
Kevan, from Bethpage, has been battling cancer for two years. He was among the first responders working at ground zero.
Family, friends and his fellow firefighters have reached out on social media to help find a match.
Now they are asking everyone to get tested in hope someone can help save Kevin’s life.
Kevan’s sister, Kristen Murphy, tells News 12 that they are looking for the perfect match. “We’re looking for the perfect match so that Brian can live the healthiest, longest life possible,” she says. “He deserves that.”
The Bethpage Fire Department will host a fundraiser for Kevan on Oct. 9 at the firehouse.
