Rite Aid has launched its COVID-19 vaccination scheduler at several locations across New Jersey.
There will be 70 Rite Aid locations in New Jersey administering the shots – 100 doses per location.
CVS pharmacies administered their first shots on Friday after thousands of people made appointments on Thursday. CVS only had 25,000 appointments available in its first round, so those who missed out may have better luck with Rite Aid.
Rite Aid officials were not available to be interviewed about the rollout, but said that 1,160 locations across the country will receive just over 113,000 doses initially. The number of doses received per week afterward will depend on how many the federal government supplies.
Anyone seeking an appointment can sign up through Rite Aid’s online scheduler system. They must put in their date of birth, occupation, state of residence and if they have any qualifying medical conditions.
Those who are approved will be taken to a list of Rite Aid locations offering the vaccine.
Rite Aid officials say that they will be adding more locations and appointments as more doses arrive in stores. Customers should check the website frequently to see when appointments will be available. But officials say that there is no specific time or date when more appointments will be free.
