The Sacred Heart Greenwich Summer Outreach Program is celebrating its 30th year of bringing together diverse students from Fairfield and Westchester counties to learn about broadcast journalism.
The camp is open to second through eighth graders who learn about arts and science and the study of broadcast journalism.
Students are also able to swim and play at the five-week program.
The campus is located at 1177 King St. in Greenwich.
Organizers say over the past three decades the program has grown from 47 students to 260.
This summer, the camp was only able to invite 130 students, only half of their capacity, so they could keep in line with COVID-19 restrictions.
Campers are using the studio on Sacred heart Greenwich's campus.
Laura Lauture has been coming to the Summer Outreach Program for five years, and the 12-year-old says she likes to learn about the behind-the-scenes work.
"I like learning how like all the camera stuff works," she says.
The class is taught by alum, Aggie Ryan.
"you can like be your own creative self with it," Ryan says.
She's enjoying being back at her alma mater teaching broadcast journalism.
She teaches everything from, new equipment, to newscasts,
Students come to the Summer Outreach Program in June and July.
